Valve released a statement on June 4 establishing changes for the second season of the Dota 2 Pro Circuit (DPC). The new season will have only ten events compared to this season’s 22. Minors will be paired with a Major, and the winner of each Minor will be guaranteed a spot at the following Major. There will be no direct invitations issued to teams for these events, and Valve provided guidelines for qualifiers. Each Major will have a minimum of 16 teams, with a minimum of two from each region, while Minors are required to have at least eight teams, with one from each region. There were additional changes to the way roster locks and changing rosters will impact DPC points, as well as requirements to avoid ownership conflicts and a rough schedule for the season.

New teams must be registered by September 15, 2018, and the first qualifier session will begin September 17, a mere three weeks after the end of The International 8. For all of the currently available details, check out the official post.

New Ranked Season Begins

The new season of ranked matchmaking began on June 6, sending players into a flurry of recalibration games. Ten games are required to earn a new placement. Once earned, new badges can never be lost, so after recalibration has been completed, the only place for players to go is up! Find all the details here.

China Dota 2 Supermajor Features Top Four Ranked Teams in its Top Four

The China Dota 2 Supermajor comes to a conclusion this weekend. Only two series remain. Team Liquid wait in the Grand Finals for the winner of the Lower Bracket Finals: either PSG.LGD or Virtus.pro. Team Secret rounded out the top four at the event, finishing in fourth place, and combined, these teams are the top four in the DPC rankings.

The last event in the DPC, the Supermajor did not impact the standing. All eight direct invitations for The International 8 have been finalized now, with the aforementioned four teams joined by Mineski, Vici Gaming, Newbee, and VGJ.Thunder.
